Fishing kayak
This kayak is a model of Principle 15 – Dynamics, serving as both a streamlined kayak and a stable fishing platform. It’s got stabilization pods that swing out from the hull, a handlebar that rises to help the occupant stand, and a little battery operated motor underneath.
Why it caught my eye
We live in exciting times. Artificial intelligence and robots are looking for work, at once promising abundance and threatening our livelihoods.
Let’s keep this in perspective. In 1790, 90% of the labour force in the United States worked a farm. They weren’t coming up with new ideas, and they weren’t living lives of leisure. I submit these facts are related. Certainly, they weren’t devoting their energy to conceiving new designs for hobby fishing platforms.
If the robots are looking for work, let’s give it to them. Let’s do the fun part of inventing new products and services and leave the drudgery to the machines. This kayak design is an example of 40 Principle thinking, and an example of how bright our future can be if we as individuals and as a society continue to innovate.
